The Rev. Jackie Arbuckle leads an Advent adult forum - December, 2007.

 

The Reverend Jackie Arbuckle transferred to St. John’s after sixteen years of service at All Saints in South Burlington. She and her husband, Allan own and operate the May Farm Bed and Breakfast in Waterbury Center.
     Jackie and Allan grew up in Massachusetts, but have lived in Vermont for 40 years. Trained as a nurse at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston, Jackie practiced as an RN, specializing in geriatric long-term care, psychiatric nursing and hospice for about 35 years. She spent many years in nursing education and administration, and was the founding director of Vermont Respite House in Williston from 1987 until 1995. After leaving Respite House, she switched careers and worked as a trainer for Gardener’s Supply Company and Dutch Gardens. Jackie also has a Master Horticulture certificate from Ontario’s University of Guelph in Canada.
     Allan and Jackie have two adult daughters - Jennifer lives in North Ferrisburgh, and Lesley (and husband John Higgins) live in Winooski.

Deborah LaPorte, church secretary, is an ordained UCC minister.

Deborah LaPorte, church secretary, grew up in Eastern Kansas. Her grandfather and father were both United Methodist pastors. She earned a Master of Divinity from Union Seminary, at Columbia University in NYC. She has served United Methodist parishes in Poultney, Vermont, Delmar, NY, and the three church parish of the Champlain Islands. In 2004, she switched her affiliation to the United Church of Christ. She presently serves a part-time parish in Williamstown, Vermont (just south of Barre). Deborah is also an experienced secretary, having worked in many secretarial positions over the years. She brings a unique blend of skills to the St. John’s office.
     Deborah lives in Stowe and has a son, Moses, who is in the 8th grade at Stowe Middle School.

The Rev. Elise Braun is a retired deacon who has served St. John's In The Mountains for many years. She continues to assist with church school, special outreach projects like the Turkey Challenge, and the spirituality group. She is known for her harmonica playing for services, nursing home visits, or pleasure. Elise, a former school teacher, is moving to Waterbury in January where she will live with her daughter, Suzie.
